21 April 2014 letter from Burlington, Iowa

Stayed pretty busy this past week and we were a lot more successful with our number of lessons than previous weeks.

We have met new "potential investigators" who we can start teaching and also new investigators that we have already started teaching this past week.
One of them is Zeke.  She is a 65 year old retired police officer from Missouri and she has so many cross's on her wall that you can't see the wall and she owns just about every Bible you ever wanted.  Her testimony of Christ is incredible.  She has always wanted missionaries to help her understand the Book of Mormon in the past but because they were Elders there are rules against them teaching a single woman in her home, but because we are sisters there are no boundaries now.

She is so excited to learn that our lessons end up pushing 2 hours or longer and she is disheartened when we say we have to leave but then she wants a lesson the next day already!
As I explain what the Book of Mormon is to her she gets it!  She understands that the tribe of Joseph is the line which it is written through and lots of other deeper details.  She cannot get enough.
She knows that God sent her to us and we have a special bond or connection and she can't keep it out of her head.  We are super excited for her.
She said quote, "if you girls would have come earlier in my life God wouldn't have prepared my heart to be open enough to receive the Book of Mormon."
BLEW MY MIND when she said that.

That is my favorite new piece of information for this past week.  There are miracles everyone if you just learn how to recognize them and seek for them.
Went to Nauvoo to help clean the temple again on Thursday night.  They took us on a tour of the building afterwards and we didn't get home and asleep until midnight.  I was so exhausted the next day.  We got to climb the spiral staircase inside the tour of the temple up to the bottom of Angel Moroni's feet.
It was a good week.
The Church is True, the Book is Blue

  1. Thanks for sharing your pictures and your experiences. It sounds like your having an amazing time. I think of you often and hope that you continue to have a great experience through teaching others. I also hope that you will be able to keep up with Zeke. :) She sounds like an awesome woman, and I bet you will learn a lot from her. Amanda and Andy were home this past week and we had a great time. I miss her and Kiersten sooooo much! But they are all doing well. Kiersten comes home for the summer in 1 1/2 weeks. I will get to pick her up by myself so I will get some quality one on one time. Trevor is soon to be a sophomore in high school, time sure flies. He is quite buff and the girls all love him. Well I hope that this brief note finds that all is well with you. I sure love and miss you. Your Uncle Chris
