This past week has been really busy. Lots of snow shoveling on some days and then warm, sunny walking on other days. The phrase in Iowa is, "if you don't like the weather in Iowa, wait 10 minutes and it will change." Pretty accurate. The River was frozen solid a week ago and now it is completely melted and it will probably start flooding cause of all the snow melt.
I got to go to Nauvoo 2 times this week. It's only a 45 minute drive away. We had a zone training meeting on Thursday morning with our mission president and then we had Stake Conference Saturday night where all the missionaries got to sing in a choir for it. Elder Reall of the Seventy spoke. President Church (stake pres.) prophesied that in the near future our stakes boundaries will include 11 stakes and then Elder Reall testified that he saw it too. Even though it is Nauvoo and very historical in the church there really aren't a ton of members out here. Our one stake covers a 4 hour drive from top to bottom. about about 3 hours across.
Also i learned from conference that feeling the Spirit is like getting into a warm Hot Tub where you get tingly all over. Everyone was laughing cause it was awkward. President Jensen (mission pres.) also is a lot of fun to listen to and says funny things like "and then came the Jensen's and that's how i happened" or "i should stop talking now. amen." He's a lot of fun and all the missionaries adore him.
I found out this past week that the Snake Alley road bike criterium is in Burlington on May 24th-25th! No matter what is going on we are going to go walk and teach people who are watching it so i can see! So excited. Snake alley looks like Lombard Street in San Francisco but half the size.
We were able to teach the family we found this past week and we're going to set a baptismal date with them at a church tour tomorrow night! I hope they agree to it. They have already told us that they want to move forward with the lessons and hope that their kids follow their example.
I can't explain in words how much I have changed and grown in my testimony of the truth of this Gospel and as a person since over 6 months ago. The only difference between me a few years ago and me today is that I pick up my scriptures and i read them. They're about REAL people and REAL prophets. They have seen our day and know how to help us. They saw the united states thousands of years before it ever existed. Crazy stuff. They already know what bad things will happen to us if we don't read them too. But you can't know what they're saying to you unless you read their words. They're dead now, you can't just go talk to them. Unless you're a super special person i guess.
I am really enjoying my time as a missionary, especially be able to share the Gospel, read out of the Book of Mormon together and serving people in various ways. It is the most rewarding thing anyone could do.
